Are we safer?

August 6, 1945 we dropped the first of 2 atomic bombs, vaporizing 90,000 human beings on the 2 days. Countless others died slow deaths, suffering from disease and injury suffered directly or indirectly from the bombs. Are we safer 64 years later? What if we had more of these bombs to drop, what if we had big walls and more guns would that make us safer?

The release of atomic power has changed everything except our way of thinking ... the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a watchmaker. Albert Einstien (1945)
